Who is Sangita Mittra?

About Me & My Work

Born and raised in East London in the 1970s, I have dedicated most of my career to the charity sector, working in various roles to support communities and promote social justice. Over 20 years ago, I made the brave decision to move to Essex—an experience that profoundly shaped both my personal and professional life.

I do this work because there is a need.

As an independent specialist dedicated to combating racial discrimination and injustice, I offer a comprehensive advocacy service designed to empower and support individuals and communities facing systemic challenges. My services include:

1. Strengthening Advocacy & Influence

  • Policy Engagement: Work with policymakers, councils, and legal professionals to push for systemic changes.
  • Media & Public Awareness: Use social media, blogs, or traditional media to highlight cases and injustices.
  • Community Campaigns: Organise petitions, public meetings, and awareness campaigns to pressure institutions for change.

2. Supporting Individuals & Families

  • Casework & Representation: Offer support in navigating legal processes, appeals, and complaints.
  • Cultural Competency Training: Work with schools, care services, and public sector organisations to improve their understanding of diverse communities.
  • Safe Reporting Mechanisms: Establish confidential and trusted spaces for victims to report racism, exploitation, and abuse.

3. Expanding Resources & Collaboration

  • Partnerships: Collaborate with legal experts, grassroots organisations, and advocacy groups to strengthen your impact.
  • Workshops & Training: Educate professionals and communities on their rights, responsibilities, and reporting systems.
  • Funding & Sustainability: Seek grants, donations, or sponsorships to maintain and grow the work of the EREU.

My commitment is to stand alongside those affected by systemic inequities, providing the expertise and support necessary to challenge injustice and promote lasting change.

As an independent specialist, how can I help and what are the costs.
